The Crowne Plaza Dubai is an upscale hotel brand located along the business area of Sheikh Zayed Road with over 568 rooms, 13 international restaurants and bars, and has one of the largest meeting, conference and banqueting facilities in the UAE.

At the moment, we are looking for a Director of Conventions to join our enthusiastic, warm and friendly Sales Marketing team at Crowne Plaza Dubai .

As the Director of Conventions , you will develop and implement revenue sales and marketing strategies for the hotel to ensure plans are implemented, results are monitored and sales goals are achieved. Regularly sell hotel rooms, meeting rooms, and food and beverage through direct client contacts.

• Achieve budgeted revenues and personal/team sales goals and maximise profitability. Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget, the hotel marketing plan and business plan, and financial plans.
• Create and implement sales plans that drive measureable incremental occupancy, increase average rates, increase volume, food and beverage and banquet sales.
• Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyse current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan
• Prepares Conference & Events annual budget, Strategies and Departmental manning.
• Shares responsibility for achieving revenue goals, guest and team's satisfaction and the financial performance of the department.
• Engages the team to create innovative sales approach to drive sales across segments. (Social, MICE, Weddings, Exhibitions, Corporate and Leisure Groups, Residential and Non Residential Meetings, Outside Catering and Associations)
• Collaborates in formulating and implementing tactical and strategic plans.
• Tracks and measures business on the books, booking trend and market performance and adjust sales strategies when necessary.
• Involves and directs the team in setting short/long term strategies.
• Evaluates and capitalizes on every opportunity to ensure business retention and increase business portfolio.
• Constantly raises performance expectations and develops procedures.
• Grows sales through collaborating with various sales activities in discovering new business potential.
• Utilize networks of company brands to maximize business potential within the company. PEOPLE

• Manage day-to- day sales activities, plan and assign work, and establish performance and development goals for team members. Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict, improve team member performance, and recognise good performance.
• Educate and train sales team that is responsible for developing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and implementing sales strategies. Ensure staff is properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties.
• Work with other department managers to ensure proper staffing levels based on guest volume.
• Develops, coaches, trains and mentors Conventions Sales team.
• Partners with Human Resources to attract, develop and retain the right people.
• Sets KPO (Key Performance Objectives) for C&E team.
• Responsible for Conventions Sales Team Annual performance review GUEST EXPERIENCE

• Provide guests with information (example: loyalty programmes, area attractions, restaurants, facility information) to enhance guest experience.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and outside contacts in order to produce group and/or convention business, to include room sales, food & beverage sales, and catering/banquet services.
• Schedule conventions and/or business group activities at the hotel and coordinate with other hotel level departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients
• Understands and discuss client's feedback to constantly improve service and discover possible opportunities.
• Interacts effectively with guests/clients, sales and kitchen, vendors, competitors, local community, and other hotel departments in order to monitor guest satisfaction

• Identify operational problems that reduce the effectiveness of marketing activities and overall hotel sales performance and work with appropriate departments on solutions.
• Develop awareness and reputation of the hotel and the brand in the local community ACCOUNTABILITY
This is the top sales and marketing job in a full or limited service hotel and may include meeting space and/or catering facilities. May manage professional level and administrative sales team members.<br><br> Bachelor's degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in marketing or related field, and two to four years of experience in a hospitality or hotel sales and marketing setting, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Must speak local language. Other languages preferred.
