Senior Drilling Engineer - Australia

Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for experienced Senior Drilling Engineer to join the Drilling Engineering team. This role will be based in Perth and will report to the Drilling Advisor.   Key responsibilities: Work within the Major Capital Projects (MCP) team performing well design planning and detailed drilling engineering work for the New/Next Field Development fields Ensure compliance with relevant Chevron drilling and completion technical and process standards Work closely with key stakeholders including subsurface, facilities, Joint Venture Participants (JVP) and other Drilling and Completion MCP teams to ensure project deliverables are met and objectives are achieved Responsible for the identification, procurement, qualification (if required) of high-end equipment, materials and services required for the drilling work program Manage assigned contracts as per contractor health environment and safety management and category management expectations to meet project requirements. Ensures supplier selection process is fully transparent and auditable with selection criteria aligned with Chevron Australia operational excellence and business metrics Liaison with New/Next Field Development Subsurface team members to ensure that subsurface objectives are clearly identified and documented.   Ensures the drilling and completions program will deliver the objectives as specified by the subsurface team. Responsible for the delivery of detailed drilling procedures Prepare detailed time and cost estimates for the project drilling work program to support final investment decision and authorisation for expenditure requirements   Use benchmarking to support well cost ,time estimates and data driven decisions when selecting operational alternatives for well construction.   Improve reliability, both in design and execution Commitment to health, environment and safety and Chevron best practices Key skills and experience required: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with Petroleum Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred Drilling Engineer with a minimum of 12 years experience with preference to candidates with previous Major Capital Project experience.   Candidates who have planned and delivered offshore directional high rate big bore production gas wells would be desirable A minimum of eight years experience in deep water planning - operational drilling engineering and/or drilling and Completion Superintendent experience preferred Knowledge and application of Landmarks Engineer's Desktop suite of drilling engineering planning tools is required Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with engagement of multiple stakeholders including Regulators (NOPSEMA), JVP, various service providers and other Chevron employees Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a multi-functional team to deliver deepwater production wells Proven ability to provide coaching and mentoring to others Strong verbal and written communication skills Understanding of business drivers and ability to develop work and execution plans to meet objectives Demonstrated ability to utilise decision analysis tools and processes to evaluate multiple options for solutions Previous experience with contracting drilling and completion equipment and services as well as contractor management Demonstrated ability to identify and build key relationships that contribute to high-class business results Demonstrated commitment to Chevrons values of integrity, partnership and trust and achieving an incident and injury free environment Why join Chevron: Chevron is one of the worlds leading integrated energy companies and has been present in Australia for more than 60 years You will be provided a competitive package and an opportunity to contribute to two of Australias largest oil and gas projects Chevron offers career development opportunities to all employees including onboarding, training and development, mentoring, volunteering opportunities and networking groups Chevron is proudly recognised as an employer of choice, guided by a vision of diversity, inclusion and committed to equal employment opportunity Chevron supports work-life balance and offers employees access to various health and wellness programs A 9-day fortnight is offered for eligible roles   We actively encourage applications form Australian Aboriginals, women, mature age applicants, candidates with disabilities and those with diverse cultural backgrounds.
